Lip Enhancement

Dermal fillers for lip enhancement are now extremely popular as an effective and safe way to enhance and reshape the lip area as well as adding volume and hydration. As we get older, our lips can become thinner and this is due to the depletion of vital substances such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid within the skin. At Fabelle Aesthetics, Dr Laurice Guirguis offers injectable dermal fillers to plump, reshape and beautify the lips with superb results.

Most effective dermal fillers for the lips contain hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring sugar which can be found in the skin, eyes, joints and connective tissues. Ageing, sun-exposure and lifestyle choices such a smoking can cause HA to deplete. HA holds up to 1000 times its own weight in water, therefore is a great hydrator for the skin and when injected in to the lips in a gel-like filler, can create volume, correction and immense hydration.

It’s important to consider that dermal filler injections should only be administered by medical professionals. Dr Laurice is fully-qualified and highly-experienced to administer dermal fillers for lip enhancement.

Lip Enhancement FAQs

How do I know if I am suitable for lip enhancement with dermal fillers?

Most people are suitable for treatment with dermal fillers. However, at Fabelle Aesthetics we request that you attend a pre-treatment, no obligation consultation so that we can assess your individual requirements, discuss your medical history and any current medications as well as advise on the treatment and expected results.

What happens during treatment with dermal fillers for lip augmentation?

This treatment may require some topical anaesthetic to be applied to the area prior to treatment. Most HA dermal fillers for the lips contain an anaesthetic so this may be all that is needed for a comfortable treatment. Depending on the treatment plan Dr Laurice has decided for you, she will either use a cannula or a small needle to inject the HA filler gel in to specific areas of the lip, using various techniques. She may decide to fill the outer line of the lip to create a more defined shape or concentrate on adding more volume to the body of the lips if this is the look you require. A combination of both techniques may also be administered, depending on your individual requirement for treatment. After the procedure, you may be given an ice pack to help with any swelling and to minimise bruising. You’ll be advised on aftercare such as avoiding hot baths, steam rooms or saunas and to keep the area clean of make-up and lipstick for 12 hours following treatment.

Does the treatment hurt?

With any injectable treatment, there may be some discomfort. However as dermal fillers now contain Lidocaine anaesthetic, the treatment should not be painful. You may feel a slight stinging as the needle or cannula is inserted and some discomfort as the dermal filler gel is injected, but this should be quite tolerable. If you are very sensitive, you can request for a topical anaesthetic to be applied 40 minutes before the treatment.

When will I see the results from dermal fillers for lip enhancement?

Results can be seen immediately although you may be a little swollen for a day or so afterwards. Optimum results will be seen around a week after treatment. Any bruising that appears may be treated with arnica gel, ice and avoiding alcohol or Ibuprofen for 24 hours following treatment and hot saunas, steam rooms and hot baths for at least 2 weeks afterwards.

How long do results last?

Depending on your individual responses treatment can last up to 8 months. Some patients find that dermal fillers can last anything up to a year. If you smoke, exercise regularly and expose your skin to the sun excessively, you may find that you need to return for treatment sooner than this.
