Cellulite and Skin Tightening
Cellulite
Cellulite is a condition where women experience a dimpling of the skin in areas such as the buttocks and the thighs. Cellulite occurs when fat deposits push through the connective tissue beneath the skin. However, you don’t have to be overweight to experience cellulite. Around 90 percent of women aged 30 and above experience some form of cellulite, so you are not alone. Cellulite is often referred to as orange-peel skin due to its lumpy texture. There are numerous treatments available but many only offer temporary relief. Creams, lotions and potions will not eradicate cellulite but mostly firm up the upper layer of the skin, giving a smoother appearance for a very short time.
Loose skin
As we age, our skin loses vital substances such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. These substances help the skin maintain elasticity, smoothness and a youthful appearance. When these are depleted, we can experience a loosening or sagging of the skin on both the face and the body. Rapid weight loss can contribute to skin laxity in certain areas, as well as dehydration, lifestyle choices such as smoking, illness and the natural onset of ageing.
