Hyperhidrosis – (excess sweating)

At Fabelle Aesthetics in Farnham, Surrey we offer a revolutionary and highly-effective way to manage and treat excess sweating, leaving you free to live your life unhindered by the condition for longer periods of time.

Botulinum Toxin Type A (Botox) is now well-known for the treatment of lines and wrinkles. However, injections with Botox in to areas of excess sweating can give relief to those who experience the condition, when other measures such as antiperspirants, iontophoresis and other prescribed medications have failed.

Botulinum Toxin Type A is a preparation of proteins which, when injected in small doses, blocks the nerves that supply the eccrine glands and this prevents the glands from producing sweat. The treatment can last up to 6 months and helps thousands of people manage what is ordinarily a distressing and problematic condition.

Treatment of Hyperhidrosis with Botox can only be administered by a medically qualified professional.

Hyperhidrosis FAQs

What happens during treatment?

Our doctor will highlight the sweat pores by using a blend of iodine and starch, applied to clean dry skin which stains the sweating area and highlights the main areas requiring treatment and where greater concentration of injection is required.
Then, a series of small injections will be administered to the area to disperse the Botox into the offending glands to immobilise their secretions. This results in a reduction of the perspiration production in the area.

How long does this treatment take to work?

Treatment for hyperhidrosis using Botox injections takes about 30 minutes to complete and it will take around 14 days to start working. The treatment can last up to 5 or 6 months for most patients, therefore offering a long-term solution to the everyday troubles of excess sweating.

Is treatment for hyperhidrosis using Botulinum Toxin painful?

This treatment can be a little uncomfortable as some of the areas that need treatment can be very sensitive such as the hands or the feet, however we can minimise discomfort by applying an anaesthetic cream to the treatment area prior to treatment.

Is the treatment for hyperhidrosis using Botulinum Toxin safe?

This treatment has been used in the NHS for over 30 years for treatment of a variety of conditions, and has an excellent safety record.
