Dermal fillers

As we get older our skin loses volume, elasticity and tone. This is mostly due to the depletion of substances such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, the building blocks of hydrated and youthful skin. Lines and wrinkles can start to appear and volume loss in the cheeks, temples and around the eyes can leave us with an ageing, tired appearance. Fat and bone loss and muscle depletion on the face can also exacerbate this.

One of the most effective treatments for volume loss and static wrinkles in the face is the use of injectable dermal fillers which contain hyaluronic acid (HA) and are available here at Fabelle Aesthetics. Dermal fillers are injectable substances which act to plump out lines and furrows, increase volume in the cheeks and temples and to improve sagging eye bags.

We can treat the following with injectable HA fillers:

  • Nose to mouth lines (nasolabial folds)
  • Loss of volume in the cheeks and lower face
  • Loss of volume and lines and wrinkles in the lip area
  • Hollow temples
  • Under eye circles and bags
  • Neck and jawline

FAQs

What happens during treatment with dermal fillers?
Following a compulsory, initial consultation, you will be invited to the clinic for your treatment and will be required to complete a standard consent form. Your treatment will be performed in the clinical environment of one of our treatment rooms. Depending on the treatment needed, you may need to have some topical anaesthetic applied to the area. This will take effect in around 40 minutes. However, Juvaderm contains Lidocaine, an anaesthetic which may be all that you need for a more comfortable experience. The area of concern will firstly be cleansed and sterilized and your practitioner will then use a needle or cannula to inject small amounts of the filler in to the area of concern. You may feel some stinging or tugging depending on the area of treatment but this is normal. Your practitioner may mold or massage the dermal filler into the area to achieve a pleasing shape and smooth result. After the treatment, you may be offered an ice pack to reduce any inflammation and deter any bruising and your practitioner will advise you on post treatment care, such as avoiding hot showers, saunas or baths and avoiding alcohol and Ibuprofen for 24 hours.
How long is the treatment?
The treatment will take between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on the areas being treated.
When will I see results?
Results can be seen immediately. There may be some swelling in the days that follow but this is natural and will subside in a few days.
How long do the results last?
Depending on the treatment area and your own response to the treatment, results can last anything from 6 to 18 months. If you are a gym goer, sun-lover, if you smoke or have a naturally high metabolism, your results may last a little less that average.
